AUDITS - Conventional Health & Safety
DML's Health & Safety Department has a dedicated safety auditor who conducts audits against the company's Health and Safety Manual on a monthly basis. Additional ad-hoc audits are carried out when a business need is identified.
Q-Pulse is the company database for programming audits and tracking non-conformities. Progress against non-conformities is reported on a regular basis.
In 2005 the main focus for conventional safety auditing was a site-wide audit using the RoSPA QSA auditing tool. The aim of the audit was to identify areas for further improvement within the company's safety management system. High-risk areas of the organisation were audited and the results presented to the Executive Safety Improvement Group for review and co-ordination of the recommendations arising form the audit.
Intelligent customer audits and inspections were also undertaken by MOD health and safety personnel of activities and buildings within DML. No significant issues were identified.
The programme for 2006 has been established and will cover a range of topics including routing of services, confined space management, and contractor control. It will line up closely with the company's QA process using Q pulse to track non-conformities and utilise where appropriate the QSA process.
