FIRE SAFETY
Fire Incidents
The dockyard site is protected by an active fire alarm and detection system that is supported by 225 separate fire alarm panels.
During 2005 the number of fire alarm incidents involving the attendance of the Local Authority Fire Service was 114, compared with 140 in the previous year.
There were 6 minor fire incidents within DML's areas of responsibility:

1 incident involved discarded smoking materials |

1 incident involved equipment under test that overheated and caught fire |
Fire Liaison & Information Sharing
Liaison continued throughout the year with the fire enforcing authorities including Devon Fire and Rescue Service and a close working relationship was maintained with the Defence Fire Service and Royal Navy. Membership and attendance of the Nuclear Industries Fire Safety co-ordinating Committee also continued throughout 2005.
